Wedding Speeches Direct

A close friend of mine was planning to get married and while I hadn’t been asked to be the best man, the speech given by the best man was pretty awful but worse than this he did not even attempt to direct it to the bride and groom. All he said was, “Congratulations Patricia, you have won.”  He brought up his glass and smiled with joy as he said this, while everybody in the room was shocked by what he had said.

This is not a good best man speech for a wedding plus to start with, the bride is insulted here.  So, if you’re invited to present an address as the best man, what are the principles?  Foremost, think about your close friend who is getting married, how many years you’ve known him, matters you’ve done together, and just why his bride is nice.  If necessary, produce a list of these items before you write your speech or, if you want to play it be ear, just keep your important items on an index card so you don’t leave out anything.

Next, don’t get so intoxicated that when it is time to say your speech you cannot even keep upright or slur your words. When you get up to present your address, thank everyone for attending before you begin to compliment the bride and your close friend the groom.  A respectable best man speech could take in all the summers you passed together when you were growing up or amusing acts you did as youngsters.

If you are not a life-long close friend of the groom, you probably still know him reasonably well or else he would not have asked you to be his best man, so you should be able to remember a number of humorous tall stories about the pair of you. If you are a relation, brother, uncle or brother-in-law to the groom, seek to talk about the type of character the groom will add to the family and speak about them too.

No matter what your human relationship is to the groom, do not speak only of him and forget the bridegroom. Not always, but most of the while, the wedding planning has taken up some time so you ought to have sufficient time to consider matters to say regarding the bride and both of them in concert.  Nice things to mention about the bride is how fascinating she is, or what a great influence she’s been on the groom’s life.
 
When you talk about the two of them together, seek to think of things that make them remarkable as a couple.  Do they both bowl or partake in sports activities together or like the identical football team?  If this is the case, then talk about this, or if they’ve corresponding careers, speak about how they’ll be in a position to enhance one another’s lives through their careers.

Make sure your best man speech isn’t overlong, as you won’t be the only person speaking.  Most likely, the maid of honor, mothers and fathers of the bride and groom will also wish to talk and in these times of more than 2 parents and step-parents, it’s best to preserve your delivery to a minimum so everyone will have time to talk.  Pursuing these points will ensure your best man speech is one to remember so take a while when you ready it and if you’re winging it, use cards if you have to reference them in your words.
